→ Free consultation — we measure your tattoo and give you an exact quote before you commit to anything.
-
We are a single-service studio. No Botox, no fillers, no distractions. That focus keeps costs lower and results better.
-
Consultations are completely free — in person or by photo. We assess your tattoo's size, ink colors, skin tone, and treatment history, then give you a realistic session estimate via photo or exact quote in person. No commitment required. You'll know exactly what to expect before you decide anything.
To submit a photo consultation, email a well-lit photo of your tattoo with a ruler or credit card for scale to hello@bareskintattooremoval.com.
-
We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Cherry patient financing. A card on file is required to hold appointments. We are a cash-pay only studio — we do not accept insurance, Medicaid, or Medicare (tattoo removal is not a covered medical procedure).
-
Yes — three ways to save:
Waitlist members get $50 off their first session — join the waitlist here.
Referrals — you get $25 off your next session; the person you refer gets $25 off their first.
3-Session Bundles save 18% versus paying per session.
The biggest savings are built into the Complete Removal Package, which is already priced 20% below the nation's largest chain.

Starting monthly payment
Financing is available on Complete Removal Packages. Monthly payment amounts depend on the package price and the term you choose. Cherry's approval rate is significantly higher than CareCredit (which typically runs 50–60%) — making it the right choice for Polk County clients.
-
No hard credit pull to check your options. Cherry uses a soft credit inquiry for the initial pre-qualification, which does not impact your credit score. You can see your rates and terms before committing. If you choose to proceed and accept a financing offer, the lender may perform a hard inquiry at that stage — this is standard for any installment loan.
-
Financing is available on Complete Removal Packages. Individual sessions and 3-session bundles are charged at time of service. If budget is a concern, the Complete Removal Package is almost always the smarter financial choice — you pay once (or monthly) and we treat you until the tattoo is completely gone, however many sessions that takes. Single sessions add up fast.
-
Cherry is specifically designed to serve clients who don't qualify for traditional financing. Their ~90% approval rate means the vast majority of applicants are approved for something — whether that's 0% APR or a longer term at a low monthly payment. We recommend applying regardless of your credit history. The check is free and takes minutes.

Technology
The Laser
-
The Candela PicoWay® fires laser pulses in picoseconds — one trillionth of a second. That speed is the difference. Older Q-switched nanosecond lasers fire 1,000 times slower, which means they generate more heat in the skin and shatter ink into larger fragments that take longer for your body to flush.
PicoWay's ultra-fast pulses shatter ink into dust-sized particles your lymphatic system clears efficiently. The result: 4–8 sessions instead of 10–12, less pain, less skin trauma, and better clearance on stubborn colors like blue, green, and yellow.
PicoWay is FDA-cleared. Bare Skin is proud to be the only studio in Polk County operating this Gold Standard system.
-
PicoWay delivers four wavelengths — 532nm, 730nm, 785nm, and 1064nm — which collectively treat the broadest range of ink colors available on any single laser system. Black and dark inks respond fastest. Blues, greens, and purples — the colors older Q-switched lasers struggle with — respond well with PicoWay. Neon yellows and whites are the most challenging for any laser.
We'll give you an honest assessment of your specific ink colors at your free consultation.
-
Yes. PicoWay's picosecond speed means less thermal energy delivered to surrounding tissue — which is what makes older lasers risky on darker skin types. PicoWay is FDA-cleared for all Fitzpatrick skin types I–VI, including deeper skin tones that Q-switched nanosecond lasers can hyperpigment or hypopigment.
We adjust settings based on your individual skin tone at each session. This is another reason clinical oversight by a licensed nurse matters — not every laser tech is trained to manage these variables.

What to Expect
Sessions & Results
-
With PicoWay, 4–8 sessions covers most tattoos but some require more. But several factors affect your specific count:
Age of tattoo — older tattoos have naturally faded and respond faster
Ink colors — black clears fastest; blues, greens, and yellows take longer
Ink density and layering — cover-ups and heavily saturated tattoos need more sessions
Location on body — areas with good circulation (upper arm, chest) clear faster than extremities (ankles, feet, fingers)
Skin tone — we adjust settings accordingly at each visit
Your immune system — smoking, UV exposure, and hydration all affect clearance speed between sessions
At your free consultation, we'll give you an honest session range based on your specific tattoo — not a vague answer designed to sell you a package.
-
6–8 weeks minimum between sessions. This isn't arbitrary — your lymphatic system needs time to flush the shattered ink particles, and your skin needs to fully heal before it can be treated again. Sessions spaced too closely risk blistering and poor results. Waiting longer between sessions (8–12 weeks) is also fine and won't hurt your outcome.
-
No ethical provider can guarantee 100% removal on every tattoo — and anyone who does is not being honest with you. The vast majority of tattoos on the right clients do clear completely with PicoWay. Some tattoos, particularly dense cover-ups, certain resistant inks, or tattoos on compromised skin, may fade to 90–95% but not reach completely bare skin.
This is exactly why the Complete Removal Package exists: you pay once, and we keep treating until it's gone. If full removal isn't realistic for your specific tattoo, we'll tell you upfront at consultation.
-
Absolutely — cover-up prep is one of the most common reasons clients come in. 2–3 sessions is typically enough to fade an existing tattoo enough to give your artist a much better canvas for the new piece. We offer 3-session bundles with an 18% savings for exactly this use case. Ask your tattoo artist what level of fading they need and we'll work toward that goal.

Pain, Safety & Aftercare
The Experience
-
Most clients describe it as a quick rubber band snap — brief, sharp, and tolerable. The sensation is intense for a few seconds but most tattoos take under 30 minutes total, and the laser itself is only firing a fraction of that time.
Bare Skin uses a Zimmer Cryo 6 cooling device — a medical-grade cold air system that blows -30°C air directly on the treatment area during the session. This meaningfully reduces discomfort and protects the skin. It's not standard at every studio; it's worth asking about if you're comparison shopping.
More sensitive areas include ribs, inner wrists, ankles, feet, and the back of the neck. Less sensitive areas include upper arms, chest, and back. We'll talk through your specific tattoo location at consultation.
-
Normal responses include redness, swelling, and frosting (a temporary white reaction) immediately after. Within 24–48 hours you may notice some blistering — this is completely normal and a sign the treatment worked. Blisters should not be popped; they will resolve on their own. Most people can return to normal activity the next day.
What to avoid for 2 weeks after treatment: direct sun exposure on the treated area, tanning beds, aggressive exfoliants, swimming pools or hot tubs, and picking at any blistering or peeling skin.
-
PicoWay has an established safety record — FDA-cleared for over a decade, used in thousands of practices worldwide. When performed correctly by a trained clinician, serious adverse events are rare. The most common risks are temporary: blistering, redness, swelling, and short-term hyperpigmentation in darker skin types if settings aren't adjusted properly.
Permanent scarring can occur with any laser when used incorrectly or on the wrong client — which is exactly why treatments at Bare Skin are performed by a licensed APRN under physician supervision, not a basic laser technician. Clinical expertise isn't just a selling point. It protects you.
-
Certain conditions may make treatment inadvisable or require clearance from your physician:
Active tan or sunburn over the tattoo area
Pregnancy or breastfeeding
Active skin infection or open wound over the tattoo
History of keloid scarring
Certain photosensitizing medications (we'll ask at intake)
Immunosuppressive conditions (may affect clearance speed, not necessarily a contraindication)
We review your health intake form at consultation and will flag anything that needs physician clearance before we begin.

What We Treat
Services
-
Yes — permanent makeup removal is one of our most in-demand services. We treat:
Eyebrows — microblading, powder brows, ombre brows, combo brows — sessions from $225
Eyeliner — upper and lower lid — sessions from $325
Scalp micropigmentation (SMP) — sessions from $325
Permanent makeup requires a mandatory patch test at the first appointment and an in-person consultation before treatment begins. Results vary based on pigment type, brand, and application depth — iron-oxide pigments can oxidize with certain wavelengths; we discuss this at consultation.
Eyeliner removal uses specialized protective eyewear and additional safety protocols. Not all studios have the training or equipment to perform eyeliner removal safely — Bare Skin does.
-
Yes. SMP removal is available starting at $325/session. PicoWay is widely considered the best available laser for SMP removal due to its ability to shatter the dense, fine-point pigment deposits used in scalp procedures without overheating the scalp tissue. A free consultation is recommended to assess pigment depth, ink type, and realistic expectations for full vs. partial removal.
-
We treat all sizes from small finger tattoos under 1 square inch all the way up to large back and sleeve pieces. Our standard pricing covers up to 88 square inches. For custom pieces larger than 88 square inches, contact us directly for a quote — we work with every client individually. Size is measured consistently in square inches.

Bare Skin Tattoo Removal
About the Studio
-
Bare Skin is located in Lakeland, Florida — the geographic heart of Polk County. We serve clients from across the region including Winter Haven, Bartow, Haines City, Auburndale, Plant City, Davenport, Mulberry, Lake Wales, and beyond.
We're the only dedicated PicoWay laser tattoo removal studio in Polk County. The nearest PicoWay competitor is in Tampa — 38 miles away. Many of our clients are making that same drive right now. You shouldn't have to.
-
All treatments at Bare Skin are performed by a licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) operating under physician supervision — which is the medically appropriate standard for laser procedures in Florida. The Florida Department of Health treats laser tattoo removal as the practice of medicine.
This is a meaningful difference from studios that use unlicensed laser technicians. Your safety, your results, and your skin deserve clinical expertise — not just someone who completed a weekend laser course.
-
The founder, Kim Carpenter, repeatedly drove 90 minutes to Tampa for her own PicoWay treatments because nothing comparable existed in Polk County. Every trip made it more obvious: a market of 750,000 people shouldn't have to leave the county for gold-standard laser tattoo removal.
Bare Skin was built to solve that problem — a single-service, premium studio with the best technology, real clinical oversight, and transparent pricing. No upsells, no corporate layers, no cutting corners.
-
Bare Skin is opening in Lakeland, Florida in Q4 2026. Waitlist members receive $50 off their first session — the biggest per-session discount we offer. Join now to lock it in before we open.
